La Vinai winery is nestled in Farra di Soligo in the province of Treviso among the cone-shaped hills that make up the unique landscape of the Treviso foothills of the Alps – a row of hills half away between the Dolomites and the Adriatic Sea – as well as the homeland of the prosecco DOCG sparkling wine.
We suggest you to just let yourself got lost in the meanders of footpaths and cycle paths. You will have the chance to admire many species of animals – it is easy to see falcons hovering high above the vineyards –, plants as well as cultural and historical heritage sites – e.g. Credazzo Towers (10th century), San Lorenzo Church (13th-16th century), Collagù Sanctuary (20th century) or San Gallo Church (14th-15th century).
From Farra to Campea
From the plain uphill to rocky amphitheatres and roaring mountain streams, and then from the cols between the tops of small hills downhill to the valley of Campea.
That path allows you to observe the upright sequence of different environment types: lower cone-shaped hills entirely covered with vineyards; an intermediate strip of higher hills, indicating different levels of soil degradation link, with cliffs dropping down into lush green depressions; and, in the end, the highest mountains with alpine plants.
This itinerary consists of three nature routes: No. 003 “Gor della Cuna”, No. 004 “Sentiero delle Crepe” (which crosses our vineyard estate!) and No. 005 “Sentiero per Campea”.
Itinerary time: 4 hours.
Lookout Posts Itinerary
Hundreds of landscapes and horizons spread from the top of the small hills of Farra di Soligo that were critical lookout posts for watching the front line alongside the Piave River during the Great War.
The title evokes the panoramic views of rare beauty that can be enjoyed from this altitude (close to 500 m above see level): from the plain of the Piave River, to the South, to the Pre-Alps, to the North. It even recalls the strategic value of those hills, with several lookout posts over the front during the First World War.
From San Martino col downhill to the valley along path No. 004 “Sentiero delle Crepe” reaching Farra di Soligo, where you can enjoy a deserved rest at our winery!
Itinerary time: 6 hours.
Taken form the guide book: “Itinerari storico artistici e naturalistici – dalle colline del Prosecco al Quartier del Piave” published by the Municipality of Farra di Soligo.
Festival, Events & Traditions
The Pro Loco of Farra di Soligo, an organisation for the promotion of the territory, organizes the Asparagus and Strawberry Festival – from the third week of April to the first week of May –, “Rive Vive” oenogastronomic walk – fourth Sunday of May – and St Lawrence Fair on the night of the shooting stars – 10th august.
The Crackpots Stone
The legend “i mat de fara” – which means “the crackpots of Farra di Soligo” in the local dialect – is that there was a big stone called Crackpots Stone in the town of Farra which, if stepped on, could cause bizarre attitudes and behaviours among the locals… Of course, such a legend could only be told and promoted by the inhabitants of its neighbouring villages!
